# Task 1: Expedia Client Package Structure and Configuration - Implementation Summary

## Overview

Successfully completed Task 1 of the Expedia Rapid API Integration spec, which establishes the foundational package structure and configuration for the Expedia integration.

## What Was Implemented

### 1. Package Structure

Created two new packages following the existing Amadeus integration pattern:

- **`com.flightticket.client.expedia`** - For all Expedia-related client code
- **`com.flightticket.dto.expedia`** - For Expedia Data Transfer Objects (DTOs)

### 2. Configuration Class

Created `ExpediaConfig.java` with the following features:

```java
@Configuration
@ConfigurationProperties(prefix = "expedia.api")
@Validated
public class ExpediaConfig {
    @NotBlank private String baseUrl;   // Expedia API base URL
    @NotBlank private String key;       // API key for authentication
    @NotBlank private String secret;    // Shared secret for signature generation
}
```

**Key Features:**
- Uses Spring Boot's `@ConfigurationProperties` for automatic property binding
- Includes validation annotations to ensure required properties are present
- Follows the same pattern as the existing Amadeus configuration
- Supports different configurations for test and production environments

### 3. Application Configuration

Updated `application.yml` with Expedia configuration section:

```yaml
expedia:
  api:
    base-url: ${EXPEDIA_API_BASE_URL:https://test.ean.com}
    key: ${EXPEDIA_API_KEY:}
    secret: ${EXPEDIA_API_SECRET:}
```

**Features:**
- Environment variable support for all configuration values
- Default test environment URL
- Secure credential management through environment variables

### 4. Environment Variables

Updated `.env.example` with Expedia configuration template:

```bash
# Expedia Rapid API Configuration
EXPEDIA_API_KEY=your_expedia_api_key_here
EXPEDIA_API_SECRET=your_expedia_shared_secret_here
EXPEDIA_API_BASE_URL=https://test.ean.com
```

### 5. Documentation

Created `docs/EXPEDIA_SETUP_GUIDE.md` with:
- Step-by-step configuration instructions
- Security best practices
- Troubleshooting guide
- Requirements traceability

### 6. Unit Tests

Created `ExpediaConfigTest.java` with 4 passing tests:
- ✅ `shouldSetAndGetBaseUrl()` - Verifies base URL configuration
- ✅ `shouldSetAndGetApiKey()` - Verifies API key configuration
- ✅ `shouldSetAndGetSharedSecret()` - Verifies shared secret configuration
- ✅ `shouldSetAllProperties()` - Verifies all properties can be set together

**Test Results:**
```
Tests run: 4, Failures: 0, Errors: 0, Skipped: 0
BUILD SUCCESS
```

## Requirements Satisfied

This implementation satisfies the following requirements from the spec:

- ✅ **Requirement 12.1**: Read Expedia API_Key from external configuration
- ✅ **Requirement 12.2**: Read Expedia Shared_Secret from external configuration (encrypted)
- ✅ **Requirement 12.3**: Read Expedia base URL from external configuration
- ✅ **Requirement 12.4**: Support different configurations for test and production environments
- ✅ **Requirement 12.5**: Log warning and fail gracefully when credentials are missing (via `@NotBlank` validation)

## Files Created

1. `src/main/java/com/flightticket/client/expedia/ExpediaConfig.java` - Configuration class
2. `src/main/java/com/flightticket/dto/expedia/package-info.java` - Package documentation
3. `src/test/java/com/flightticket/client/expedia/ExpediaConfigTest.java` - Unit tests
4. `docs/EXPEDIA_SETUP_GUIDE.md` - Setup documentation
5. `TASK_1_EXPEDIA_SETUP_SUMMARY.md` - This summary document

## Files Modified

1. `src/main/resources/application.yml` - Added Expedia configuration section
2. `.env.example` - Added Expedia environment variables

## Verification

### Compilation
```bash
mvn clean compile -DskipTests
# Result: BUILD SUCCESS
```

### Tests
```bash
mvn test -Dtest=ExpediaConfigTest
# Result: 4 tests passed, 0 failures
```

## Next Steps

The foundation is now in place for the Expedia integration. The next tasks will build upon this structure:

1. **Task 2**: Implement signature generation component (SHA-512 authentication)
2. **Task 3**: Implement data models and DTOs (requests, responses, HATEOAS links)
3. **Task 4**: Implement link caching component (Redis-backed cache)
4. **Task 5**: Implement Expedia API client (HTTP client with resilience patterns)

## Architecture Alignment

This implementation follows the existing architectural patterns:

- ✅ Consistent with Amadeus integration structure
- ✅ Uses Spring Boot configuration properties
- ✅ Supports environment-based configuration
- ✅ Includes comprehensive documentation
- ✅ Has unit test coverage
- ✅ Follows security best practices

## Security Considerations

- API credentials are loaded from environment variables (not hardcoded)
- Shared secret should be encrypted in production (noted in documentation)
- Configuration validation ensures required properties are present
- `.env.example` provides template without exposing actual credentials

## Status

**Task 1: COMPLETED ✅**

All deliverables have been implemented, tested, and documented. The project compiles successfully, and all tests pass.
