Frequently asked questions

Here’s what you need to know about Energy Performance Certificates for Buildings, based on the questions we get asked the most.

EPC4Bs came into effect on 8 December 2020 and states that South African building owners have until the end of 2022 to comply with the new mandatory requirements to publicly display and submit their energy performance to SANEDI. Failure to comply will be in contradiction to the National Energy Act and could result in financial penalties and imprisonment.

The following buildings have been mandated to comply before the end of 2022: • Privately owned buildings not leased by a public entity bigger than 2 000 m2 of occupancy classes A1 - Entertainment and public assembly; A2 – Theatrical and indoor sport; A3 – Places of instruction; and G1 – Offices • Publicly owned buildings as well as privately owned buildings leased by a public entity bigger than 1 000 m2 of occupancy classes A1 - Entertainment and public assembly; A2 – Theatrical and indoor sport; A3 – Places of instruction; and G1 – Offices

At Delta Carbon, our mission has always been focused on high quality professional service delivery. Rest assured that we've followed the latest security and data management standards and that the EPC Tool is POPI compliant.
